The Crooked Story
Driven by their passion for fresh and fun foods, The Crooked Rooster owners Chris Tompkins and Kendell Taylor opened the restaurant’s doors in Poughkeepsie, NY in 2013. As lifetime Poughkeepsie residents, close friends, and now business partners, Tompkins and Taylor envisioned a fun, inviting, and family-friendly atmosphere for patrons to enjoy a homemade meal—and that’s exactly what they created.
As a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Taylor worked with Tompkins to transform the best all-natural ingredients into an exciting and eclectic menu at The Crooked Rooster. The duo is committed to serving high quality foods made from scratch and their team of CIA-trained chefs takes freshness seriously. In the restaurant industry, freshness is a relative term; at The Crooked Rooster, it means hourly! The Crooked Rooster team prides itself on the menu’s fresh flavors, creative combinations, and dedication to providing top-of-the-line, locally-sourced ingredients.
Named after a tipped-over tin rooster, The Crooked Rooster continues to uphold its foundation of fresh foods and fun times. Tompkins and Taylor work tirelessly to provide the Hudson Valley with excellent dining and enjoyable experiences, while also supporting local charities.
